Course Description

 

Students looking to major in IT, understanding project management in general is essential; therefore, managing IT projects is unique and requires different sets of methodologies, tools and techniques over non-IT project management.  This course is designed to help students seeking collage degree in IT, or project management gain knowledge in the foundations and technical tools and techniques to manage IT projects effectively.    This course is designed to introduce students to leadership concepts and skills as they apply to projects. In addition, the course will discuss other soft skills required by a project manager, including team building, managing conflict, communication, and other tools and techniques

 

Learning outcomes

 

• Develop an understanding of project management as a discipline.
• Develop an understanding of IT project management
• Understand PM IT methodologies and different process areas and benefits to each
• Identify the elements of a project pertaining to people, time, cost and how to use the triple constraints to plan, organize your work or those you are responsible for.
• Tips and techniques to use in on you IT project and how to apply these concepts in your school work.
