This course provides an overview of the basic concepts of Project Management, and their integration into a coherent project management framework.   The course addresses the role of the project manager, the project management team and the Project Management Office (PMO) in implementing and controlling projects, programs and portfolios. Participants will gain an understanding of the five process areas and ten knowledge areas as outlined in Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide (PMBOK® Guide).

Course Description

 

This course provides an overview of the basic concepts of Project Management, and their integration into a coherent project management framework.   The course addresses the role of the project manager, the project management team and the Project Management Office (PMO) in implementing and controlling projects, programs and portfolios.  Participants will gain an understanding of the five process areas and ten knowledge areas as outlined in Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide (PMBOK® Guide).

 

 

Learning outcomes

  • Develop a comprehensive project plan using the project management knowledge areas as defined by   the Project Management Institute (PMI). These include Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Human Resources, Communication, Risk, and Procurement
  • Develop a Project Charter that includes elements of business need, summary project description, high level schedule and cost, stakeholder assessment, assumptions, risks and constraints.
  • Describe the five Process Groups and ten Knowledge areas as defined by PMI and assess how the multiple processes interrelate with each other.
